"Our school preserves values and traditions from the past, and prepares pupils through a contemporary curriculum for the world of tomorrow."

Thank you for your interest in our school and for exploring ways you can support us through the SHSB Charitable Trust. I have been a member of the staff team at Southend High School for Boys since January 2005 and was delighted to be appointed as the first female Headteacher in February 2025.

SHSB is a great school recognised for providing world class education in an environment where every child can fulfil his or her potential. We are immensely proud of our exceptional academic outcomes, which as a grammar school, are central to our purpose and routinely place our students amongst the top performers nationally.

Pupils spend seven years at Southend High School for Boys and we recognise the influence of the school throughout those years is significant in determining the life trajectory for every student. So in addition to building outstanding academic ability, through our 2020 vision, we are committed to developing our students as future leaders who are morally, socially, and emotionally equipped. Our vision is to set them on the path towards young adulthood with the highest aspirations and equipped to make a positive and worthwhile contribution to society.

Pupils learn what we teach, but more significantly they learn by how we teach. We preserve values and traditions from the past, and prepare pupils through a contemporary curriculum for the world of tomorrow.

For over 100 years, Southend High School for Boys has been inspiring and empowering boys aged 11-16 along with boys and girls in our sixth form, to achieve great things.

Our rich heritage and commitment to academic excellence, makes the school a truly unique and inspiring place to learn and work. Being a part of this school means being part of something truly exceptional.

We want to protect this for the next generation and beyond. However, our ability to continue to deliver such a rich curriculum, high quality learning experience and exceptional pastoral support is not possible through government funding alone.

However, with your help and support it is possible to provide our students with the opportunity to continue to be proud to wear the green blazer for many years to come.

We are immensely grateful for your support in whatever shape that may take. Please visit the links below to learn more about how you can help.

You can provide the SHSB Charitable Trust with the critical financial support which will ensure the school's legacy is protected into the future. Exceptional opportunities can then continue to be provided to our students for generations to come.

Thank you for playing your part in helping us to make this happen.
